FINISHED!

well my part anyway... up to my teammates to do the rest of theirs! hopefully they won't have to stay up too long.. now I've just got to finish these lecture cheat sheets... sigh

Sculpties and Displacement Maps

These were a mission at first... googling what a sculpty even was was a chore. In the end, the all wise charlotte helped to further my understanding on 'sculpties' in second life... which I thought were really cool. Turns out a displacement map is the 2D image (.png) a sculpted prim uses to turn into a sculpted 3D object... it uses the various RGB values and turns them into various XYZ values. I used sculptypaint to make a random sculpture, saved it as a png, then used photoshop to write my name on top of this png, saved it again and well this is the result... after i used it as a displacement map for an object. Pretty... Interesting...

Not far from the crit now.. less than a day away

Developing the interior and exterior.. getting to the final product but was panicking about whether we'd finish in time. We'll find out soon enough though! Hope i'm not going over my prim limit...

LIGHTSSS

YEAAAAAAAH getting some light action. Made three random lights on the roof, gold blue and... pink? well, they lit up my face for the photo perfectly.

Starting on the design

So... finally starting the desifgn for second life. Just finished my Psych exam and wel... 4 Days until crit. So have to get this done asap! Barry's behind me giving me a hand, buying stuff on the marketplace and whatnot. Atm thinking of basing it on Barry and Lauren's journals on acoustics and cantilevers... we'll see how things turn out as we develop it! Atm it's already 3am... a usual night for the hard working architect!

The Treehouse...

Even with our primitve knowledge of ArchiCAD we were able to design a treehouse (the tree would definitely be much bigger in real life...). Even with scale woman and car :D

We HAD all designed our own awesome treehouse before, but didn't save it (...)

FUN FUN FUN work

now back to second life...

Things I need to do for the Library

- Design a 'digital interactive element'

- Create a sculptie - ask someone who already has

- Create a particle system - http://particles-lsl-generator.bashora.com/index.php

- Create texture for floor using offset filter http://www.photoshoptextures.com/texture-tutorials/seamless-textures.htm

- Create Alpha Channel texture to use on the windows - http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-use-Photoshop-to-Create-Textures-With-Alpha/

- Upload both alpha and offset to second life and set them as textures - http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-use-Photoshop-to-Create-Textures-With-Alpha/step6/Upload-into-Second-Life/

- create my treehouse vector image, screenshot it and save as pdfs - upload it to this blog. Upload pics to SL

- Name all the Prims

- Floating text for descriptions using this script - http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Script OR http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetText

- Read my journals

- Complete all the other tasks on the lab sheets as well as the lecture sheets
